Cashy Warrior - If it was the Drury Lane Eppy then it was the first series Drury Lane Theatre DRURY LANE, LONDON Series 1 Episode 4 First Aired: June 18th 2002 Location Background Known in the business as "The Lane", this is the oldest theatre in London. The Theatre Royal stands on the oldest site in the world to have been continually used as a playhouse. The first theatre built on that spot was erected in 1663 and burnt in 1672. The next one, designed by Christopher Wren, opened in 1674. In a third theatre with a capacity of 3,611, was built until it burnt down in 1809. The theatre that stands on the site today was opened in 1812 with money raised in part by Lord Byron. The theatre's most seen ghost is ‘The Man in Grey' dressed in long riding cloak, boots and three-cornered hat, said to haunt the Upper Circle, particularly during matinees. He is supposed to have been killed in a stage fight in the 18th Century. Workmen digging away at a wall as part of a refurbishment project found the skeleton of a man, dating from this period, with a dagger in his ribs, so perhaps the ghost story is well founded. Brief Episode Synopsis The 4th episode of Most Haunted presided in the oldest and reputedly most haunted theatre in London. Derek opened the investigation with a startling revelation that he felt no activity at all, however upon moving to the Circle he began to pick up on the names Charles Macklin and Arnold Woodrow. At that Derek underwent supposed possession from a third spirit from the early 1700’s called Derek Hallam who apparently had an altercation with Charles Macklin which ended with Charles’ death. Derek struggles with the experience and is eventually brought round by Karl. Later Derek again makes contact with Arthur Woodrow suggesting that he is watching them from the balcony. Derek then picks up on the name Joe Grimaldi suggesting he was every but the ultimate entertainer. The night vigils begin in two small teams and it is then that they apparently claim to all have seen an apparition of some legs when opening a doorway. A second experience occurs when the team notice a man with chains walking towards and up the stairway, and although the group are initially startled they assume that it must be a worker in the building. Upon investigation no trace of the man can be found. Within the auditorium Rick sits in the seat reportedly belonging to the "Man in Grey" however upon returning to the seat shortly after it is still in the downward position, while Rick maintains it was upright after he left it. An orb is also caught on camera and some unexplained cold spots and breezes are experienced. Derek was very entertaining and as always put things across in his showmanly way, I still like Derek though i can understand why people dont want to believe in him. It is a very good episode and even the parasychologist sees ghostly legs so thats something.
