GRILLS ALOUD
Stick-thin stars told to fatten up
SUPER-SKINNY Girls Aloud have been ordered to pile on the pounds by record company bosses who are worried they're just too svelte.
All five members of the hit pop band have lost weight, thanks to the energetic dance routines they performed on their British tour earlier this year.
Concerned Polydor aides reckon they're little more than skin and bone, so the girls are under strict instructions to get their sexy curves back.
Although the band - who perform their new single, Long Hot Summer, at the Big Gay Out festival in London's Finsbury Park today - have been given a licence to fill-out, they won't be allowed to stuff their faces with greasy kebabs, chip butties and fattening burgers.
Instead, a top nutritionist has been hired to help Cheryl Tweedy, 22, Sarah Harding, 23, Nadine Coyle, 19, Kimberley Walsh, 23, and 20-year-old Nicola Roberts gain weight sensibly.
Our well-placed insider tells us: "The tour was gruelling because they performed practically every night and they all ended up losing quite a bit of weight. They were all slim before the tour and some of the girls caused concern by how skinny they had become.
"None of them has eating disorders but they are all looking pretty thin at the moment. People are concerned that being so thin might make them ill as they've got quite a tough schedule. They finished the tour last month and are now in the recording studio in London working on their next album.
"The record label thought it was for the best that the girls put some weight back on and the best option was to get a nutritionist to work out eating plans for them.
"They will be given recipes and cooking lessons because none of them can really cook that well."
It's all a far cry from two years ago when the bandmates were desperate to lose a few pounds.
Too many late night KFC takeaways and a love of pigging out on McDonald's "for breakfast, lunch and dinner" had left them looking more flab than fab.
Irate manager Louis Walsh told them to go on diets and got a tough personal trainer to put them through their paces.
Sarah also admitted: "I love food and going out to eat. When I used to watch myself on Popstars, I'd cringe. My thighs looked like thunder thighs. I'm so not that big. TV really does exaggerate your size.
"I try to go to the gym at least once a week when we're busy. If we're not, I go two or three times but as a band we are scrutinised for being fat."
Well, no one can say that now about them now...
