At Moresby Hall in March, during the night vigils, I needed the loo. So, off I toddled to the cottage (which is at the rear of the house) and up to the first floor.
Now, the door on the cottage is very heavy and very old with a huge latch. I came out of the loo, and heard the door open downstairs. I thought it was one of the others, coming to play a trick on me, so I stood totally still at the top of the stairs, listening for noises. I couldnt hear anything, so I called out....nothing.
I then searched the cottage, looking for whoever it was that had come into the cottage...there was no one there.
Still convinced that one of the others had come over to play a trick on me, I went back into the main house and said "ha ha, very funny, you almost scared me"....to which they swore they had not moved....and i believe them, cos Kirkland looked totally sincere.
Still dont know what that was, but its strange that once you have attached a rational explanation to something, you're not scared anymore.
Even after I found out that nobody physical had made that noise, and I knew that the wind could not have done it (there was no wind and the entrance to the cottages are sheltered), I still wasnt scared, because the moment had passed.
Mind you, that tunnel at Moresby is a bit freaky, couldnt get out of there fast enough, and everyone felt the same when they went in it...lol

wow spooky! I'd loved to go on a ghost hunt.
Something spooky happened to my dad the other day. He was staying in a cottage in wales on a walking holiday, and on the first night the tap for the bath turned itself on!
Now according to dad the tap was really stiff. At first i just thought that he may have got up in the night, gone to the loo and forgotten to turn the tap off; but as it was the bath tap it seems unlikely. What do you guys think?...
